What do bed bugs look like?

Bed bugs are parasitic insects that feed on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals. The name comes from their tendency to live in beds and other human furniture. They can be found in the seams of mattresses, furniture, or any other place where they can find a host. Bed bugs are small, brown, and oval-shaped. They are typically less than 1/4 inch long and 1/16 inch wide. They are wingless and unable to fly. A bed bug infestation can be identified by a strong musty odor, small blood spots on bedding, or tiny dark spots on bedsheets. Bed bugs have been found in many public places such as movie theaters, restaurants, schools, and public transportation. 

What are the signs of bed bug bites?

If you suspect you have bed bugs, you'll want to keep an eye out for these signs.

Bites. The first sign of a bed bug infestation is often the most obvious: a set of bites on the legs, arms, or torso. A bed bug bite is often red, bumpy, and itchy, and can last from a few days to several weeks.

Visible bugs. If you see actual bed bugs, that's a sure sign of an infestation. These are small insects that are brown or black, with oval-shaped bodies and flat, segmented antennae.

What are the signs of a bed bug infestation?

The first sign might bite, especially on the face, neck, and arms. You may also see live or dead bedbugs and bedbug skins or eggs. To confirm that you have a bed bug infestation, look for these signs:

Small, red, itchy bumps on your skin that resemble mosquito bites.

How do I get rid of bed bugs myself?

Bed bugs are a nuisance to deal with, and a huge pest to deal with. You can try to get rid of them yourself, but you need to know how to do it and the right kind of products to use. You can get rid of bed bugs by removing clutter from your bedroom, and throwing away any clothing that may have been infested. You can also put bed bug traps in your bedroom to catch them, and wash all your bedding in hot water.

Examine carefully your mattress's folds and seams, the headboard, footboard (if present), box spring/support platform, frame, etc. for bedbugs, and treat these areas after vacuuming or properly dusting them manually.
