Wall Gecko

Wall Geckos are small lizards that live on walls or in between cracks. They have long legs and tails which enable them to climb smooth vertical surfaces. Wall Geckos are common house pests found throughout the world. They can be found in homes, hotels, restaurants, schools, offices, and many more places. They are very active during the day but become quite inactive when it gets dark. They feed mainly on insects such as beetles, bugs, cockroaches, and crickets.

Sanitizing is a chemical process that lessens and even kills germs on surfaces to make them safe for contact. Sanitizer also refers to household products (especially hand sanitizer) that are used to prevent the spread of disease.

How do they get into our homes?

Mostly through open doors and windows, although some may enter through gaps around sills and skirting boards. They can squeeze through tiny holes and cracks, even those covered over by wallpaper or paint. Once inside, they will seek out food and shelter.

If you notice any signs of geckos living in your house or office, it is important to contact an expert as soon as possible.

Are wall geckos dangerous?

Wall Geckos are harmless, but if they get out of control they can cause serious damage to your house. They like warm places such as under radiators and behind TV units.

Geckos are very good climbers and will often hide in dark crevices around the home including inside electrical sockets. Their main food source is insects which means that they do not usually require much feeding. However, their saliva contains an enzyme called chymotrypsin which causes corrosion on metal surfaces. This leads to the formation of rust spots on metals such as taps, heaters, and pipes. Geckos can become a problem when they start nesting in walls and roof cavities. Nests are made up of silk and can grow up to 20cm long. In addition, Geckos can bite causing painful wounds.
